What is the "Lunchtime Laser" treatment? Back to top
The "Lunchtime Laser" treatment is a non-invasive procedure unlike any other skin resurfacing treatment. The skin is not subjected to harsh chemicals or the intense after-care of other facial rejuvenation procedures. Cooling technology protects the sensitive surface layers of the skin, allowing the laser light to penetrate to a deeper level and stimulate new collagen growth.
What does the procedure do? How does it work? Back to top
Lunchtime Laser treatment uses an infrared laser to rejuvenate your skin from the inside out. The procedure combines a cooling plate and an Nd:YAG laser to give patients optimal results with the minimal inconvenience. The protective cooling plate is applied to the skin, allowing the laser light to pass harmlessly through the upper layers of the skin and stimulate those cells deep below the surface which produce natural collagen. The collagen and elastin fibers continue to multiply after your treatment, and you will continue to see improved results over the months ahead.
Is the procedure painful? Back to top
Lunchtime Laser treatment can be performed on any facial area -- around the eyes, mouth, cheeks, and chin -- with minimal discomfort. A topical anesthetic cream can be used on extra-sensitive areas. However, no injections are needed.
How long does a treatment take? Can it be combined with other procedures?
Lunchtime Laser treatment is a quick, easy procedure for which many patients come in during their lunch hour. The procedure takes between 15 and 30 minutes, and there are virtually no side effects. Those who wear facial cosmetics can reapply their makeup right away, and freely carry on with their day.
The Lunchtime Laser treatment can also be combined with other procedures, making it an ideal complement to microdermabrasion, Botox, and laser skin resurfacing for an overall facial rejuvenation.
How long will I take to heal? Back to top
One of the most outstanding features of Lunchtime Laser treatment is that there is virtually no downtime associated with the procedure. After a session, the area may appear red for up to an hour. However, makeup can immediately be applied. No wound is created; therefore, there is no healing time required.
How many treatments are needed, and how long will it last? Are there any side effects?
Clinical studies suggest that at least two treatments are needed to stimulate new collagen growth. Doctors also recommend regular touch-up treatments to sustain the continued growth of new collagen. As for side effects, Lunchtime Lasers and light sources are among the safest units on the market.
Laser Skin Peel and ProFractional FAQs
What is the Micro Laser Peel? Back to top
It is a minimal to full epidermal laser peel that precisely removes the outermost layers of the skin. The procedure is individually tailored to the nature of the problem to be corrected: wrinkles, scars, keratoses, or pigmentation problems.
Who should consider a Micro Laser Peel? Back to top
The patient looking for better results than microdermabrasion or light chemical peels can offer, but still has little time for the healing process.
How is the Micro Laser Peel different from Microdermabrasion? Back to top
Generally, microdermabrasion only removes the outer layer (stratum corneum, 10-15 microns) of the skin. Patients may become dissatisfied when the perceived results do not equal expense and the number of procedures required.
The Micro Laser Peel is a minimal to full epidermal peel (20-50 microns). Because this procedure goes deeper into the epidermis, it is the perfect step between microdermabrasion and deeper peels.
How often does a Micro Laser Peel need to be done? Back to top
One procedure could be sufficient for at least 6 to12 months, but additional procedures can be performed as required. A package of three to four treatments may be best for you. Dr. Samadani will determine what is necessary.
What can I expect following treatment? Back to top
Smoother, healthier more vibrant skin. You will notice a significant and immediate change in skin texture and tightness when compared to microdermabrasion.
What type anesthesia is used? Back to top
A topical anesthetic such as Ela-max, Emla or Betacaine Plus is applied thirty to 45 minutes before the procedure.
Do I have to wear any type dressing or bandage after the procedure? Back to top
No. Dr. Samadani will prescribe an ointment such as Aquafore or Vaseline. This is used as a barrier to keep the air away from your skin while you grow new epithelium. You will probably use it for one to two days. After that, a moisturizer can be used.
How long is the healing process? Back to top
The healing process varies from patient to patient but will generally take from two to four days. The procedure can be performed on Thursday or Friday and you can return to work the following Monday. Immediately following the procedure you will feel as if you have a bad sunburn. You will have minor sloughing and itchiness the following day. By day two, redness will begin to fade and by day three any redness can be easily covered by makeup.
